SSPCA Doggy Dash 2012

June 9, 2012

When Rosie’s parents asked me if I could watch her today, I already had tentative plans to go to the Sacramento SPCA’s Doggy Dash. I asked them if I could bring her along and they said yes. Since the Doggy Dash is no longer much of a dash, but more like a stroll, I thought it would be a perfect outing for my nearly 12 year old golden retriever, Crenshaw. Although there were several people who ended up jogging with their dogs, and Rosie was raring to go, I knew 3.1 miles of running was just too much for Crenshaw and eventually Rosie accepted the fact that she had to walk instead of run.

After the walk, the dogs had to opportunity to cool themselves off in doggy pools provided just for them. As you might remember from an earlier post, Rosie LOVES to splash around in the water.

There were lots of great vendor booths to check out, and both dogs became quite spoiled as almost every booth had treats for the dogs. We managed to bring home plenty of samples and toys. The dogs even got to pose for a picture with a couple of storm troopers who were walking around.

Crenshaw and Rosie participated in Elk Grove Subaru’s casting call to star in one of their commercials. The ten finalists will be posted on their Facebook page. Keep your fingers crossed that they make the top 10!

It was a great day supporting a great cause – the Sacramento SPCA. If you’re in the market for a new pet, be sure to check out their adoptable cats, dogs and other animals.
