About The Jogging Dog

Welcome to The Jogging Dog Blog!

My name is Desiree and I’m a professional dog trainer and dog runner.  I created The Jogging Dog because so many dogs need much more than a dog walker. I’ve experienced firsthand the effects regular runs have on my dogs’ behavior and health. My goal is to help other dog owners experience these benefits as well.

Growing up on a ranch in rural northern California I developed a love for animals. My love for dogs and a desire to help others prompted me to become a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind after college. After raising three puppies, I decided to pursue a career as a dog trainer and attended Triple Crown Academy for Professional Dog Trainers in 2003. Since then I have worked for dog daycare and kennel facilities, and I have worked with various rescue organizations. I have experience working with breeds of all sizes and temperaments. I have personally trained my own dogs in basic obedience and agility, and I am currently raising another guide dog puppy.

My fur family currently includes Crenshaw, an 12 year old Golden Retriever; Lizzie, a 9 year old Labrador Retriever; Spade, a 7 year old Border Collie/Heeler cross and Samson, a 3 year old cat who thinks he’s a dog.

The Jogging Dog  provides dog running, dog walking and pet sitting services in the Sacramento area. For more information, please visit The Jogging Dog website.

  1. Love your idea and I hope to catch your blogs. I have a 2 and a half year old Goldendoodle who needs her daily walks very much. She tends to “punish” us if we for some reason or another don’t fit the walk in. Can’t wait to learn more!

  2. What a great service idea! I completely agree with this mission. Most dogs have a natural pace that is much faster than a human’s walk. They need to go faster, get that heart pumping and be a dog!

  3. Love the name Crenshaw! Too bad your business isn’t closer to me. I wish someone could wear out my neighbor’s dogs!

  4. Yay! This is great, I’m getting my puppy into running, he seems to enjoy it, but still to little to go for long runs. I’m gonna follow your website as well.

  5. Brilliant idea to share your blog about your skills and those will reach this will gonna make an interest to bond with their, dogs. Happy Running Mam! 🙂

  6. Ah…kindred spirit – in our area no less! Glad you found Gardens for Goldens. I’ll happily follow along. 🙂

    • Thank you. I love Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue, and check in from time to time to see all the sweet dogs up for adoption. 🙂

  7. Hi Desiree ~ thanks for the follow and what a great concept you have to run the dogs! Your Golden is beautiful! When I first met my husband he had one and my daughter recently added a Golden pup to her household…..they are amazing. We adopted a greyhound who races around the grass circle in our backyard at breakneck speed then then collapses onto her bed for a long nap. Funny, crazy, lovable creatures they are:-)
